8 Ways I'm Losing 10 Pounds from The Gossip Darling

I love to eat, drink, and snack. I truly enjoy every moment I spend consuming something so yummy that I dream about it. I'm also not picky about my consumption. I enjoy Snickers and Godiva equally. I never discriminate. But since turning 30 last year, I absolutely hate to admit it, but my metabolism is starting to hate me. I used to be able to eat wood in my 20's and my body would digest it and I wouldn't be bloated for even for a second. At 31, everything makes me bloated and now I gained an extra 10 pounds and no matter how hard I try...I can't lose it. I'm finally starting to accept the fact that I have to change my consumption habits. I say consumption instead of only eating because I also like to drink my calories. Don't get the wrong idea! I'm not only talking about alcohol (even though I'm obsessed with my wine) but I love to drink juice, soda, and other sugary drinks. (And Starbucks fraps)

Here are my three main vices: wine, sweets, and fried foods. I'm a girl who enjoys life. Time for a change...here we go!

1. Calm App: I've mentioned this app before. I try to meditate for about 5 minutes per day. I want to start taking yoga classes but honestly I struggle with time. If I only have an hour free for a workout, I rather spend my time on the treadmill. My attitude is starting to change though because mediating is life changing. It puts me in a totally different mindset and makes me think more positively. My whole vibe changes and my brain clears a bit. I highly recommend spending a few minutes per day just mentally regrouping.

2. Water: I swear water is a miracle worker. It's like the world's best medicine. Unfortunately, I just hate drinking water. It's such a struggle for me. I rather drink a diet coke or tea! I now make my own flavored waters. I just add some lemon to my glass and bang! I can drink it. I'm trying to drink my 8 glasses a day...I'm trying...

3. Workout: I am increasing my workouts from 3x per week to 5x and instead of 45 minutes, I am spending a hour getting sweaty. Working out isn't just helping me lose weight but it's also helping me deal with stress. I think living in a major city, have a busy full time job, and just deal with life can add loads of stress to anyone's life. I truly thinking sweating and really hitting the treadmill makes me release so many emotions and I always feel better afterwards. Hopefully my new workout routine pays off!

4. Snacking: I am the QUEEN of snacking. I love snacking! A handful of snacks here and there never hurt anyone, right?? Ummmm.....wrong! Those calories have been adding up and making my skinny jeans super tight. I am keeping my hands to myself and no longer grabbing any handfuls. No more snacking for me! Well I should say no more unhealthy snacking for me!

5. Frequency of Meals: I can go hours and hours without eating. This is totally wrong and not good for your body! I should be eating about 6 small meals per day. It helps your metabolism and your body won't store whatever you are eating into fat. It's almost like a game. If your body thinks it's only going to get one meal a day, it's going to store that one meal into fat and hold onto it for survival. I'll burn more calories if I eat 5 to 6 small meals per day and let my body know not to hold onto anything!

6. Sodium: I add salt to salt. I love love love everything salty! I add salt to my eggs, popcorn, fries, and just about anything I can add it to. Not only does sodium make you bloated but it can cause soooo many other health issues. I need to put the salt shaker away and grab my glass of water. I don't want high blood pressure!

7. Sleep: In order to have the energy to work out more and get through my long days, I need my beauty sleep! After all the wear and tear I am putting on my body, my body also needs time to regroup and recuperate. This all sounds like common sense but I tend to only sleep 4 to 5 hours per night. This is terrible on my body. 8 hours please.

8. Dedication: I guess this applies to all areas of life, eh? I need to be consistent and dedicated to my new plan. I can't do it for one week and then fall off the wagon. It's all about momentum and creating a new life routine! This isn't a moment in my life...this is a new lifestyle!

Do you have any weight lose tips for me? Any advice?

  3. I should really take note of some of these as well, especially getting more sleep! I keep telling myself the night before that I'm going to at the very least get my full 8 hours but then something always manages to keep me up.

    1. Me too! I go to "bed" and yet I'm still on my phone looking at social media for another two hours! Hahaha.

  4. Love this post! Eating lots of small meals is so good!
