Fabulous Fall Trends

10:16:00 PM

"If you have never fallen in love at first sight, you're shopping on the wrong site"

Yes, we are talking fashion today! Has anyone else already started stocking their closet with jackets, scarves and boots for this fall season, I can't be the only one! I am so happy to have a guest blogger to share her wonderful style tips today! Lovelies, meet Brandy! Brandy is amaaazing with all things beauty and she is the owner of Britain&Brooks, an online boutique (all clothes below are from Britain&Brooks!). Now, upcoming fall fashion trends to look for by Brandy:
LOVE this Sweater Dress with high boots look!

"Fall is one of the biggest times of year in fashion, no it is not New York Fashion Week, but it is the best time of year to show off your personal style. Street style is huge this time of year the weather is cool enough you can wear multiple layers but not too cold that you are too covered up or freezing your butt off trying to show off your outfit. You know we put a lot of work into these outfits so YOU KNOW we want to show them off!
Britain&Brooks Bomber Jacket layered look, love!

This Fall we have some major trends in circulation;

-mixing prints
-mixing textures
-socks of all lengths
-layering absolutely everything
-and not to mention the color MUSTARD

Layering is taken to a whole other level this fall season. As we try and call on our inner 70’s flowerchild with flare jeans making a huge come back, our top half needs to be layered to perfection.

Britain&Brooks fall look!

Although it may look like we just threw on every piece we could find, there really is some thought put in to it. The goal is to create dimension with your outfit, which just means everything hits the body at different lengths. You don’t just wear a dress anymore, throw on a long vest and a belt and make it a statement."

I am seriously loving all of these fall looks! Links to the specific outfits are included in the captions, if you want to steal the look for this fall. Britain&Brooks is full of the BEST outfits, time to shop!

Best Retinol Serum for ONLY $11!!

11:59:00 PM

Tree of Life Retinol Serum Review || The Gossip Darling

Actually the price is ONLY $10.75 :)

Seriously, I purchased this retinol serum from Amazon because I'm trying to get my acne under control and I've read that retinol can help. I am so over this acne situation and I am willing to try anything.

I'm finally seeing an esthetician on Friday and she's hard to get an appointment with because she is that good! I've actually known her since I was 15 and she used to do my monthly chemical peels before I moved to NYC. So until my acne is completely a thing of the past, I will be driving Upstate to see Marisa for some serious skin TLC. Why would I go all the way back home for something I can do in the city? Because I rather travel and good to someone I know and trust. I have spent sooo much money trying to fight my breakouts that I am tired of wasting the green paper. I want someone I trust and I can rely on to get rid of this pimply mess!

Tree of Life Retinol Serum || The Gossip Darling

Since I am seeing Marisa this upcoming Friday, I wanted to purchase something good and reasonably affordable until I can really deep clean my skin. I know I lack patience but when you are 32 years old and walking around with pimples, clear skin can't come soon enough! So about 2 weeks ago, I ordered Tree of Life's retinol serum and it's truly an amazing product. I love when a beauty product works really well and is easy on the wallet.

What does retinol do for acne sufferers? Retinol is amazing to the skin for a number of reasons and can pretty much help with any skin issue! It helps with: acne, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, dry skin, and other skin conditions such as psoriasis. That's totally just naming a few benefits! Just by using retinol everyday for 3 to 6 months, you will notice an improvement with wrinkles and other signs of aging and skin damage. If you use everyday for 6 to 12 months, you'll see the best improvement with your skin. Retinol encourages rapid skin cell turnover so it helps remove dead skin cells and allow for new skin cells to surface. This is exactly what we need to happen in order to improve scarring left after breakousts.

Tree of Life Retinol Serum || The Gossip Darling

How to use: So you should only use retinol at night because it's made from Vitamin A and it rapidly breaks down when exposed to the sun and air. I also make sure to wear sunscreen during the day because your skin will be more sensitive. Retinol can be drying to the skin so use a little bit at a time and don't just glob it on! If your skin does start to peel, then only use every other day. If you prefer to use it everyday, then maybe just mix a little bit of retinol with your night moisturizer so it won't be as strong.

Why do I like this specific serum? Because it's not thick or watery. It's like a clear gel that's easy to apply to your face. Don't you hate when products are too watery and run between your fingers as you're trying to apply it? I also love the fact that this serum is 72% organic with a satisfaction guaranteed by the company. It includes many amazing ingredients such as aloe, botanical hyaluronic acid, witch hazel, jojoba oil, vitamin e, and green tea, It definitely helps to keep new breakouts at bay and it's helping to fade my acne scars. This formula is also easy on the skin and won't cause irritation. I personally think you'll all love it, especially for the price.

Do you use retinol regularly?

Think Dirty App

Think Dirty App Review

Hahahahaha I know what you're thinking! Nope! Not that kinda dirty! :)

I have recently been making huge shifts with my beauty routine. You'll be hearing more about it soon. To sum it up, I've been thinking a lot about what I put on my face when it comes to makeup and skincare. I have always been a beauty lover but with my acne issues lately, my skin is hating everything and I am starting to think about what's causing all of this. Is it chemicals? Is it the weather? Is it clogged pores? I'm starting to do my research and I am finding out sooo many interesting facts and info.

Think Dirty App Review

I've been chatting with a friend and she asked if I heard of the Think Dirty app. I'm terrible when it comes to apps and rarely know about any of them or the most popular or recently launched. She highly recommended that I download it and she couldn't have been more right! It's actually becoming an obsession of mine! Since I am loving it, of course I had to share with all of you.

Think Dirty is a free app you can download and provides info about everyday beauty products we use and the level of chemicals in each product. You can either scan the product, search by keyword or search by barcode. It's super easy. Warning, not all products are in the system yet but you can reach out to them and ask them to review something for rating on the app.

Think Dirty App Review

According to their site, Think Dirty® empowers and educates the consumer on the cosmetics industry by allowing them to make an informed decision on what products to purchase. I personally couldn't love this idea anymore. With people suffering more and more from cancer and other terrible diseases, it really makes you wonder what's causing it. Of course I'm not a doctor and diseases are caused by a number of things but is there a link between the chemicals we use on a daily basis and cancer? If you actually knew the ingredients is every product, would you still use it? Can some illnesses be prevented?

Think Dirty App Review

I decided to give the app a little spin. I love Josie Maran's beauty brand and I'm always buying her products via QVC. I have been using her Argan Oil for years and wanted to see how it measured up....and it did GREAT! Ratings are scored based on a scale of zero to ten. Zero is the best and ten is the worst.

Anyway, I searched for my Josie Maran Argan Oil and it was rated a one. What is the rating based on? It's based on three things on the Dirty Meter: Carcinogenicity, Developmental & Reproductive Toxicity, and Allergies & Immunotoxicities. Then you can read of the ingredients the product is made with and finally you can get recommendations of similar products with less chemicals. How amazing is all of this?

Think Dirty App Review

I can honestly say that I don't mind meeting somewhere in the middle but I am extremely concerned about using products with a ten rating. Actually yesterday I scanned a bunch of products and I did some cleaning.

Think Dirty App Review

I wish this company so many great things and I hope they continue to expand. They've received some amazing publicity and are offering the public invaluable info. It's expanding my beauty knowledge and is truly having an effect on me.

How will your beauty bag rate?

ipsy August Glam Bag

Ipsy August 2016 Glam Bag

Hello darlings!!

I have been on vacay all week and I am loving ittttt. I've gotten so much blog work done which always makes me really happy. So many exciting things are going to be happening for this little blog of mine! Squeal!!

This month's ipsy Glam Bag is my fave to date! How stunning is the makeup bag they sent me? It's truly a work of art! The colors are so delicate and the beautiful woman applying makeup! *swoon* It's like a dream. I'm totally saving this bag!

Ipsy August 2016 Glam Bag

First up, Ciaté London Paint Pot in Spinning Teacups. This delicate ladylike lavender shade is perfect for summer and spring. It's romantic, whimsical, and it's totally within this month's dream theme. I applied two coats letting it dry between each coat for 5 minutes. I then applied my favorite Essie topcoat and I'm done. The end result was perfect.

Ipsy August 2016 Glam Bag || Ciaté London Paint Pot in Spinning Teacups

As you may already know, I'm truly obsessed with black eyeliner. I wear it every. single. day. It's a must and staple in my makeup bag. I am very picky though about my eyeliners and would never just purchase one at the store without trying it. I love them bold, creamy, and easy to glide on. When I received the Rodial Smokey Eye Pen in Black, I was super pleased with the formula. It's heavily pigmented, lasts for hours, and it applies very easily. It's a hit for me!

Next up is something I desperately needed considering I'm already out of highlighter. Don't you hate when so many of your products get used up at the same time? I go from just needed one refill to needing a whole new makeup bag. Anyway! I am a huge fan of NYX makeup and have so many of their lip glosses, primer, and powders. I'm so happy that I finally got to try their Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam. It's extremely pigmented and a little pea-sized dot definitely goes a long way! The picture down below was wayyyyy too much! (Ignore my super dry hands!) The highlighter provides the perfect glow and it's an amazing product for the price. It also lasted all day for me. Another hit for me! Yay!

Ipsy August 2016 Glam Bag || NYX Highlighter

I have never heard of the next one and I also haven't tried it yet but it does smell amazing. I love leave-in conditioners so IT Hair Care 12-in-one Amazing Leave-In Treatment is right up my alley. The 12 things it promises to do: get rid of brittle ends, tangles, and frizz; add body, shine, and health; repair dry and damaged hair; protect color-treated hair, against heat, split ends, and breakage. Sounds pretty amazing, huh? Let's see how I like this baby!

Last up is a fave of mine... Josie Maran's Whipped Mud Mask in Vanilla Apricot. I've been a huge fan of Josie products for yearsssss. I always keep her argan oil handy! I love how her products are natural and work really well on my skin. As I get older, I am trying to shy away from chemicals and switch over to more natural products. There's a long story behind this and I'll be sharing soon. This mask smelled and felt amazing. After I rinsed it off my face, my skin was smooth and hydrated. This was her first attempt at creating a mask and she succeeded! It does everything it promises to do which is "clarifies, refines, firms, nourishes and soothes." With 100% pure argan oil, Moroccan rhassoul clay formed from volcanic ash which detoxifies and tones skin, what's not to love?

Have you tried any of these products? What was in your ipsy glam bag?

Life Update

Life Update || The Gossip Darling
via here
Hello darlings!

Happly Monday and hope you all had a great weekend! Just wanted to share a little quick life update with you all. Just a little gossip between friends :)

Let's just say losing weight is hard. Like extremely difficult. I have been on the Weight Watchers weight lose program for about 2 months now and it's really working. I've lost ten pounds and I'm feeling great. I have four more pounds to go until I reach my goal weight. After I reach my goal, I'm going to really start toning up. My problem area has always been my stomach. It's a family trait and makes us all look like we are 5 months pregnant or something. My belly just puffs out! Ugh! So four more pounds to go and I start doing what I hate most...working about my abs. I'm working out 5 to 6 days per week and taking barre, Zumba, twerking, and pole dancing classes. I think I'm going to add Soul Cycle to the mix but it's so expensive! We'll see about that one.

The main reason why I personally think weight loss is hard is because I had very unrealistic expectations. I have to realize that I'm 32 now and not 22 anymore. Back in my 20s, I used to drop 10 pounds like nothing. Like seriously it felt like it took me a few days. Hahaha. This time I said to myself, "you're active, eating mostly healthy, and always been fit. You got this..." Well wrong! Your body changes and things aren't as easy as they used to be. I legit thought I would just give up wine and I would lose the ten pounds in a month. Ummm I wish. So I'm continuing on my weight loss journey and I'm feeling great. I have soooo much respect for people who lost 100 pounds! I wouldn't be able to do it.

My acne. Ugh. This is the little engine that could. It got really bad for awhile but it has really improved since I started a new skincare routine. I'm going to write a post soon about every single product I've been using. It's a lot of work but consistency is key. I'm not afraid of a little work especially if it means my acne is gone!

I went to the doctor last week about my migraines and it turns out I was severely dehydrated. I'm losing weight, working out 6x per week, and it's sooooo hot here in NYC. I need to be drinking at least 64 oz of water per day and let's just say I was barely getting 8....yes I know it was stupidity on my part but it's really hard! First of all, I hate water so it's naturally a struggle for me. And I'm always so busy at work that I lose track of time and totally forget to drink. Now I have an alarm on my Apple Watch and it reminds me 6x per day...drink water. I'm in the bathroom peeing every 5 minutes but the dehydration is getting better and it's also helping my acne. I'm killing two birds with one stone.

Back in March, I went to the doctor for my annual physical and my vitamin D levels were extremely low. I was also retested last week and I'm back to normal! At first I thought the imbalance was causing my acne but not the case. I'm so happy! I'm looking for a good soapy multivitamin so if you have any recommendations, please feel free to share. I'm also not taking anymore hair growing pills so let's see if I notice any changes.

I'm so excited to be expanding my blog and featuring some new series. One of my new features will include events and inspiration for your own future parties! I've mentioned before that I was a wedding blogger for many years. Even though I don't want to only write about weddings, I still miss the creativity, inspiration, and beauty life events bring, including weddings. I'll be sharing more stories about engagements, baby showers, bridal showers, or just a good dinner party with friends! I'll also be collaborating with more companies which I'm super excited for. We need to help lift one another and learn from others. I think this will be a great addition to the blog.

In the future, I definitely want to rebrand the blog. I still don't think the layout and design truly represents me but it'll do for now. I want to build more and develop my identity before I spend serious money.

What else would you like to know? Do you want to see something else on the blog?

I would love to hear from you!

Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Review

2:00:00 AM

Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Review
Hi loves!!

So eye makeup remover is a MUST for me!! I wear loads of eye makeup on a daily basis and all of my liners are black. Let's just say that it can be very difficult to remove my makeup even with me cleansing and really scrubbing my face. I'm also really gentle around my eye area but it's the first area to wrinkle and it's extremely sensitive. Side story: About two months ago, I was washing my face and I was being very rough and actually popped a blood vessel in my eye! It was painful and bleeding inside of my eye! It wasn't a cute look to go with my full makeup look.

I'm usually always good about removing my eye makeup and 70% of the time I'm gentle... but I still have those moments. Eye makeup removers are 100% a must as part of my skincare routine. Also, it helps remove eye shadow fall out before I apply my foundation.

I'm currently using two different eye makeup removers: my beloved Bobbi Brown and now Estee Lauder's Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. I've already shared my thoughts about Bobbi's here and now it's all about sharing the love for Estee!

This gentle eye makeup remover is oil and fragrance- free. It's also ophthalmologist-tested which is super important because I wear contact lenses and I also don't want to be blinded just because I love to wear black liner! It's also gentle and lightweight so it won't fight with your skincare routine or feel like it's clogging your pores. Everyone can use it and it's for all skin types! I love when things are super easy and works for everyone. Just grab it and go! Also, have you ever used an eye makeup remover that's heavy and oily and when you use it and then try to apply makeup immediately afterwards it changes the texture or look of the product? I have and I hate it! This product won't conflict with anything you're currently using.

So far I've used it to remove black mascara, black liquid eye liner on lid, black eye liner for waterline, and multiple eye shadows. It gets through and removes everything. I use it twice per day: morning and night. It's especially important for me to use at night because I've ruined too many pillow cases with black residue that just won't wash out!

How do I use it? I usually use one of my large oval cotton pads from Primark and apply the remover directly to the pad. Then I swipe it across each eye separately. After I've wiped both eyes, I apply a little more on a q-tip and really get underneath the eye. Please just make sure to close your eyes. Even though the lovely eye doctors have approved this product, let's not get too crazy.

I personally feel like after a few swipes across my eyes, this remover gets a little soapy. You're not going to see suds but maybe a bubble or two! Nothing too crazy.

Bottom line? Great for sensitive peeps like myself, amazing for delicate areas, and not one bit oily so not clogging of pores or competing with your makeup. Will I purchase again? 100%

How do you remove your eye makeup?

Happy 1st Birthday to The Gossip Darling

Hello loves!!! I just wanted to share a really quick post with you all....Today marks one year since I started this little blog of mine called The Gossip Darling. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by! It seems like yesterday that I was emailing and texting all of my friends with name ideas. Yes, I was really driving them crazy but thank goodness they were all supportive!

Even though I have been blogging for years now, I still keep learning new things on a daily basis. Compared to my old wedding blog, this time around I'm less focused on stats or the number I times I post a day or if what I'm writing makes sense. I'm truly more relaxed about the analytical side and I'm more focused on building positive relationships. I want to connect with my readers. Hey, even if I only have two readers, I wanna connect with those two!

I'm so blessed to say that the response to The Gossip Darling has been amazing. I'm looking forward to collaborating and connect with me of you and growing this little baby of mine!

Happy 1st Birthday to The Gossip Darling! Praying for more years and a lot of fun! Hope we create, inspire, and change the world!

PS- I want to give a special thanks for the readers! Without you...I'm nothing!

Fighting Acne

Fighting Acne by The Gossip Darling
via here
Hello loves!! Today I'm chatting about something I'm extremely passionate about...acne! It's something I've struggled with for years. For some people it's just a zit here and there but for others (like me), breakouts can be so bad, painful, and completely change how you feel about yourself on the day to day. At 32, I'm embarrassed by all of my breakouts. Even though I know that it's not true, I feel like I'm too old for zits! Wasn't this just a teenage thing? Not at all and many of us suffer from acne into adulthood. I've tried soooo many products and have wasted so much money trying to get rid of my acne. It's difficult because some products have made me breakout even more! After visiting a dermatologist and 100% not getting the treatment I wanted (another $128 down the drain!), I'm finally taking control over this situation and have developed a routine that works for me. Now this involves not only skincare, but my makeup routine, diet, and lifestyle as well! Are you ready for this super long post? I'm actually splitting it up into two parts because it's just too much info!

Before I get into the BareMineral products I've been using (part two post!) I just want to share a few lifestyle changes I've made and in less than a week, I've notice a huge improvement with my skin.

1. Cleaning my makeup brushes: HUGE! Keeping germs and bacteria alway from your face is super important. You can't continue to apply your makeup with dirty brushes. You just can't do it! Whatever you're trying to accomplish by cleansing your face will be useless if you just reinfect your skin with dirty makeup brushes. I wash my brushes every Sunday with my Sigma brush and a cleanser as the brush shampoo. I know you can use brush cleaner but I use a facial cleanser because I'm so paranoid about using products that can potentially breakout my skin. Here's my post here about my brush cleaning routine. I prefer the Sigma glove but truly use anything you have that will really clean out those brushes.

2. Drink water: As much as I hate to say this because I hate drinking water, I have to say I'm drinking 8 to 12 glasses of water a day and it's making a huge difference. Staying hydrated is very important and reflects in your complexion. Cleansing your body from germs, bacteria, toxins, and other stuff is important for your overall health but also improves your looks! My skin doesn't look as "tired". Does that make sense? Lol. Like I've shared a few times before, I hate drinking water but honestly you just have to develop a pattern and stick with it. It's like working out. I hate it but I have to do that too if I wanna feel and look good!

3. Hands off the face: Please tell me that I'm not the only one who loves picking my face or touching my face as I'm on the computer. My dirty hands are always on my face. Hands off! Unless you just washed your hands, again, no germs or bacteria on the face! I live in NYC so I get enough of that by just walking the streets. As much as we want to pick as our zits and face, we are truly making the situation worse. Let the acne products do its job without any interference from you!

4. Diet: I'm trying to stay away from sugars and even alcohol. We know that I suffer from migraines and bad sugars can also trigger them but sugars aren't good for your face either. My fave of choice, wine, can be extremely dehydrating to the body and without water intake, it sucks my body dry which causes it to produce more oil which in turn leads to acne. That was a lot right? Lol. I'm still on my fitness and weight loss program and no refined sugars go hand in hand with that but it also helps improve my acne. It's a win win all around.

5. Stop piling on makeup: Again, this is a super hard one for me. I love layering my makeup so I can cover my acne. Who really wants to show that to the world? Unfortunately, it's not improving the breakouts and is making me breakout more. I'm clogging my pores and not letting my skin breathe. My skin is suffocating and in turn retaliates by breaking out. Even though it's extremely hard to do it, don't add that second layer of concealer or foundation. I personally use my primer, Complextion Rescue mixed with Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation and call it a day. I used to apply my Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick to my breakout areas but I'm not skipping this step. My skin can't be completely blocked. Let the poor thing breathe!

6. Moisturizing: I used to totally skip this step in my morning routine. I'm really good at moisturizing at night but suck at it in the morning because I'm usually late and I'm a rush. Bad bad bad. We think just because we have acne that we should skip the moisturizer because we need to dry out our skin. This is actually the opposite. We still need to moisturize our skin so we create balance. We want to balance our skin so we can control it and for the skin to look clear. My making it too dry, we are creating an imbalance which forces your body to try to make up for something. Now I wash my face in the morning, apply moisturizer, let it settle while I fix my bed and make my coffee, and then I start my makeup routine. So far this new addition has been working out wonderfully.

7. Washing my face as soon as I enter the apartment: So usually work very long days and then go to the gym. So I am out of my house on average 14 hours per day. I work out before I head home and usually my fitness routine is very intense. Once I walk into my apartment, I make my dinner and chat on the phone…I don't wash my face until I shower or before bed if I didn't work out. Wrong! Now as soon as I enter my apartment, I go straight to the bathroom to wash all my makeup and sweat off of my face. The longer it hangs out on my face, the more time germs and sweat have time to settle into my face.

8. Oil free products: This is something the dermatologist told me. She recommended that I only use oil free products and to double check all of my makeup and skincare products. So I am using this oil based cleanser from BareMinerals and it comes highly recommended by many people who suffer from acne. All of my other products though are oil free.

Stay tuned for part two of this post when I go into the exact products I'm using to keep my face clear of breakouts!

Current Beauty Wish List

2:00:00 AM

Current Beauty Wish List
Let's be honest here…it doesn't really matter how much makeup I have, I still want more. Every time I see a new product launching or my favorite blogger saying she's in love with a new product, it just instantly makes me want it. (Yes, I'm like a little kid!) So if anyone wants to make donations (ha!) or buy me makeup, here's my new beauty wish list!

1. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer: This has been around forever and I have seen some many of my fave YouTubers swear by this concealer. I really need to pick this up! I seriously know I'm missing out on something wonderful.

2. Jo Malone Cologne: I actually haven't tried any Jo Malone products...not a one!! People swear by the candles and cologne and I don't know what they are talking about. I hope it's not a bunch of hype because this stuff is expensive!

3. La Mer 'The Moisturizing Soft Cream': Doesn't JLo use this all over her body? Isn't it the best of the best? If it's good for her, it's good for me! My skin is always so dry and it's important to stay hydrated, especially since I want my skin to always look younger. I need this in my life.

4. Donna Karan 'Cashmere Mist' Deodorant/Antiperspirant: I used to wear this perfume years ago! Honestly, I wore it so much that now I'm just tired of it. I recently read from a fashion blogger that she can't go back to using regular deodorant after using this on her wedding day. She said it's clear, smells amazing all day long, and you won't feel sweaty at all. Since I'm always running around, I want to make sure I smell peachy all day long.

5. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Beige: Isn't Bobbi Brown makeup just so and elegant? I feel like you can never go wrong and you'll always look like a lady. This brick is simple with the colors and I feel will compliment my tan complexion perfectly. I can just throw it in my gym bag and I'm on my way.

6. Giorgio Armani 'Luminous Silk' Foundation: Doesn't Kim K love this foundation? Again, good enough for Kimmy means good enough for me. We all know that the name Armani means luxury and quality. It's a bit pricey at $64 but I'm hoping it's worth it.

7. Deborah Lippman Nail Polish in Love Story: This light pink color is the definition of elegance and perfection. Super easy to wear and so delicate, classy, and feminine. I love everything about it and feel like I can use this color everyday and not get tired of it.

8. Charlotte Tilbury 'Filmstar Bronze & Glow' Face Sculpt & Highlight: I also haven't tried any Charlotte Tilbury products! I know that I am super late to the game!! How have I not picked up anything yet? This compact is perfect for the busy person on the go. You have your contour and highlight in the same place and can just grab, apply, and go! The packaging is really pretty too. I am trying to simplify my life and I am looking for easy to grab and apply.

Stila Stay All Day Eye Liner and Liquid Lipstick Review

Stila Stay All Day Eye Liner and Liquid Lipstick Review

OMG OMG! Hands down one of the BEST #NSale purchases I've ever made. Seriously, if it's still available, run out and get it! These two are some of the best beauty products I've ever used. Must have! Get it now! Run for it!

Stila Stay All Day Eye Liner and Liquid Lipstick Review

I have been using Stila's Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner for years. I have only cheated once with Kat Von D's liner when Sephora sold out of my usual gem. I can't gush enough about it. I love it!! Here's the deal. I am always in a rush and running late. Living in NYC means that I am fully involved in the hustle and bustle. When I wake up in the morning and get ready for work, I am absolutely never on time and never have a moment to spare. I need my makeup to be easy to use, fast, and effective. I also need it to last all day because I don't have time for touch ups and I work 16 hour days. You'll get all of this from Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner.

Stila Stay All Day Eye Liner Review

Here's my morning eye makeup routine. I apply this eye shadow primer with either my fingers or brush. Then I set it with a powder. Honestly, I use whatever powder I'm favoring at the moment. It can be Laura Mercier's Translucent Powder or Bare Minerals loose powder or my fave L'Oreal pressed powder. Seriously, just any powder and use this brush for application. Once you prime and set, apply your eye shadow (or shadows) of choice and then you are ready to apply your eye liner. Let me just say, I never leave the house without liner. It's more important to me than foundation. It completely changes my looks. Stila's eye liner is easy to apply because it's shaped like a pen. Just give it a quick shake and it's good to go. It has a super fine felt tip and the color is so pigmented that you just need to swipe once or twice and you're set. I just have to sweep the tip over my eye lids once and the results are perfect. I use the color intense black.

Stila Stay All Day Eye Liner Swatch

The eye liner creates a thin elegant look and of course you can expand from there to a achieve the look you want. Legit, this eyeliner doesn't transfer to my upper lid and it lasts all day! It survives my barre, twerking, and zumba classes! I remove it with my Estee Lauder eye makeup remover and I'm set. If you love eye liners and are concerned about product transfers or staying power, I would definitely give this baby a go.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina Review

Now this is totally something I wasn't ready for! I had nooo idea I was going to fall so madly in love with this lipstick. It wasn't love at first sight, it was a slow low. lol. So with the #NSale, I bought my liner for my usual price of $20 and they threw in the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick for free. This brand is a smart one because even though it was free this first round....I am now madly in love with it and will 100% repurchase. Wanna know more? Good because I want to spill the beans.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina Swatch

I received the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina with my duo set. It's a beautiful nude pink shade. It's perfect for the classy, understated, but you are 100% the boss look. This dusty rose is 100% full coverage! It goes on the lip a little too liquid and watery I thought. I have never used a lipstick like this before so I wasn't a fan of the texture at first. I thought, this thing is so watery and it's going to be running down my lips and face. Ummm so not the case. This creamy matte lipstick is super pigmented and the color is very intense. Seriously, a little bit goes a long way and you only need to sweep across your lips once. Not need to keep going over and over. It feels very light on your lips and it dries very matte. It's not sticky and you don't have to worry about your hair sticking to your lips. Since I am not a fan of a matte look, I apply a nice nude gloss over it and the overall look is perfect. At the moment, I am using this by Bare Minerals for my second layer. May I just say...the color lasts for HOURS!! I drank my vanilla soy latte, eat my oatmeal, had a snack, drank water, and the lipstick was still on my lips!! I just had to apply the tiniest amount of BM gloss over it and I was 100% good as new. I have never seen a lipstick last this long. My only con is the smell...kinda reminds me of clay or something. I am missing the mango scent of YSL lipsticks. That's my only negative! This is the best $20 I've ever spent.

Have you tried Stila's Stay All Day eye liner or lipstick? What are your thoughts?

Current Songs on Repeat

Hi darlings!!

I haven't done a post like this in so long! I have no idea why since it was so popular the last time I did it! Today I thought I would sharing what's on my current playlist and why I'm keeping each song on repeat. These songs aren't the latest or literally just released. Some of these beats have been out for ages but I don't care. I love them and it's helping me shake my ass as I walk or I'm closing my eyes and feeling the passion!

First up is James Bay's Let It Go. I'm truly soooo in love with this song. Every single word is like poetry and it's a really deep song. It actually reminds me of one of my friend's relationship. They have been dating for so long and honestly, it's time to just let it go but she keeps holding on. I promise everyone can relate to this one.

Second up is Drake's One Dance. I have such a huge crush on Drake. John Legend is the guy I should marry but I am going to mess around with Drake for a few months or so. hahahaha. His music just makes me wanna move and dance. It's soulful and has a beat all at once. Lovvvveeee him.

Third is Beyonce's Sorry. Queen Bey strikes again! This woman is just so powerful and inspiring. This song is my jam when I'm at the gym. I take a weekly twerking class and this is always one of the songs we twerk to. I'm bringing out my inner Sasha Fierce and I always get such an amazing workout when I am try to dance like Bey. <snaps fingers>

Fourth is Grace's You Don't Own Me. This song will forever remind me of the movie The First Wives Club! Such an awesome movie. My friend Tommy and I always sing this song to one another. We were soooo happy when a new mix came out. You don't ownnnnn meeeeeeee. <insert runway walk!>

Fifth is Adele's All I Ask. Her whole album is phenomenal but this song is my favorite. (I'm still so bummed I missed out on her concert tickets here in NYC!!) I think Adele is amazing at creating music that everyone can relate to. She and John Legend just know how to sing to me. I think we have all been in love with someone and maybe they aren't feeling the same way and you know it's your last time together and you just want event to take place so you can make an amazing memory about of it. Does that make sense? When I was ending my last relationship, I knew it was going to be our last time spending time together and I just wanted an amazing night so I could have the memories to last me a lifetime. <sigh>

Sixth is John Legend's You & I (Nobody in the World). Is John not the most romantic man in the world? Like seriously, his music and lyrics just hit my soul. Each word and sound is more romantic than the next and I can only hope my future husband can write just one sentence about me like John writes a whole album about Chrissy! I am sooo jealous. Ugh I wish I could just hate her. I heart you John Legend.

I'm truly obsessed with all of these songs! They are perfect for my workouts, subways rides to work, or relaxing at home and blogging.

What's on your playlist?

Causes of migraines and tips to prevent them

Hello darlings!

Oh my goodness! Last week for 4 days, I was battling a migraine! I was literally in my pitch black apartment with the AC blasting and in complete isolation. I had to miss 2 days of work. I have no idea why I have all of a sudden started suffering from migraines. I never used to have them until about 6 months ago. I would never wish it on my worst enemy!

So far I've been to the doctor twice and have done full blood work and nada. My hormone level are fine and everything was perfect except for my vitamin D levels. They prescribed 50,000 mg of vitamin d for 8 weeks. During that time, I experienced not one migraine. Not one! I don't know if the two are connected but I am looking for answers and not sure if it's time to see a neurologist.

So far here's some changes I am going to make to try to prevent these suckers from coming back...

1. Water: I am horrible at drinking water! I work out 6x per week and usually only drink 8 oz .That's for the entire day and I know that's not enough. It's summer and between sweating, working out, and the normal amount I should be drinking, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm dehydrated. Since this weekend, I have been drinking at least 8 glasses per day plus extra since I'm working out. I hate every moment of it but I have to do it. I know I do. Besides the fact that it's healthy, it'll also make my skin look better.

2. Wine: It hurts me to even say this but I am saying no to my beloved wine. I love my pinot grigio and it loves me back but I read that alcohol (especially wine) can trigger migraines. As much as I love my wine, these migraines are brutal and I can't continue to miss work and live in isolation. I'm totally willing to give up wine and hopefully it pays off by me not having headaches, I lose some weight, and my skin clears up.

3. Sleep: I am terrible at sleeping and never sleep 8 hours per night. I am usually at about 5. I need to start taking better care of my body. Sleep is extremely important and it allows your body to regenerate. It's time for me to start treating my body as a friend and start paying attention. It's time to rest up!

4. Heat: I 100% know that heat is a serious trigger. I have always been a winter person and I have no control over the temperature. I do live in NYC and we have all 4 seasons. I just have to try to stay out of the sun and stay cool. Also, I need to make sure I have my cold water bottle everywhere I go.

5. Stress: I am under stress all the damn time. My job is stressful and again I have no control over this. But maybe throughout the day I can try breathing exercises and use my Calm app. I don't have control over stressful situations but I do have control over the way I react to them. I can't go straight from zero to hundred all the time. Sometimes I have to say no to things and let other people handle. I am only one person and I can't let my stress levels take over my life.

6. Meds: So don't yell at My bff Karen and my Mom have already done that. I am totally not sure if this is related but...I was taking pre-natal vitamins as well as hair growth supplements to make my hair grow thicker and faster. None of this stuff is FDA approved but I always read about pre-natal vitamins speeding up to process for hair and nail growth. Not sure if I possibly overdosed on vitamins (is that a thing?) or maybe my body wasn't reacting well to it but I have stopped all over the counter pills and am only taking pills prescribed to me by my doctor. I know bloggers love promoting hair growth pills but please please please speak to your doctor before taking any of these!

7. Exercise: I went from working out 2 to 3x per week to 6x per week. I am trying to lose weight and be healthier but maybe I overdid it and went a little too hard too quickly. I am seeing my doctor again on Wednesday morning so I am going to ask her about this one.

8. Caffeine: Ahhhhh I have a love/hate relationship with caffeine. My daily Starbucks runs are necessary but they are so unhealthy. Another migraine trigger but so hard to give up because it increases my energy level. I think I need to have one cup of caffeinated coffee in the morning and then switch over the decaf. I am also giving up my diet coke. Ugh. Such a sad day.

Again, I have no idea what's causing my migraine headaches but I am trying to solve this problem the natural way and prevent them from coming as best as I can. If you have any tips or tricks, please let me know! I am desperate here!! I am going back to my doctor tomorrow so let's see what she thinks.

As always, thanks for reading!

NYX Shine Killer Primer Review

NYX Shine Killer Primer Review

Amennnnn!! I just found another primer that I am super in love with! And better yet, it's a drugstore find! Just $13.99 baby at Ulta! It's NYX Shine Killer primer and it'd my new favorite. Wanna know  more? Good because I want to share.

NYX has really become one of my favorite drugstore brands. They offer amazing quality for half the price of luxe brands. I walked into Ulta looking for a good primer to help control my shiny oily face. Since I have been getting better at taking care of my skin (washing my face, cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and using masks) my skin has become oily from dry. Overall, I prefer to have oily skin over dry skin because I'll age slower but it does have it's disadvantages...such as my makeup melting off of my face. Nothing has changed in regards to make makeup routine. I set all of my makeup with powder between each layer applied but it wasn't helping. Seriously, after 4 hours, my face looked like I just finished working out! Totally not cool! So my BFF Karen told me to try NYX primers because she's heard amazing reviews and they are easier on the wallet.

The saleslady at Ulta recommended that I try Angel Veil but they were all sold out so Shine Killer was the next best thing. It's clear in color and is a gel-like base. I apply it all over my face with freshly washed hands. It applies very well to the skin, is smooth, and feels lightweight on the skin. There's nothing I had more than applying a product that will make me feel weighed down or like I'm clogging my pores. My skin reacts very well to NYX products and I don't have to worry about breakouts.

NYX Shine Killer Primer Review

Initially when I first tried this primer, Shine Killer reminded me of Hourglass Mineral Veil primer because of it's smooth texture and application. My skin felt amazing after I applied it and it doesn't make my skin feel tacky or greasy. Honestly, it didn't 100% help control the shine but it did a pretty good job. After a few hours, I still have to apply powder to my t-zone. Just a few dabs of my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation powder and I am set to go. Even though it didn't do the job completely, it did the same amount of work as the higher end primer I've used.

So far I've tested in out with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation, and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation and its been great with all four.

What products are you using to fight the oily face look?
