Fighting the Summer Hair Frizz

I can't believe that we are now officially into August. I keep saying it because I still can't believe it!! Hahaha. Crazy!! So my extremely curly hair has been behaving itself this summer, but it's not because it's doing it on its own...I have given my hair no other choice!! I started testing out some new hair care products in the Spring and it's totally paying off during this hot Summer. I discovered some pretty amazing products and I can't wait to share. I love fighting the summer hair frizz!

I have to start first by saying I always straighten my hair. It's funny that straight hair is some much more easier for me to manage than my curly hair. I just invest 20 minutes either once or twice a week and for the rest of the week, I can just get out of bed and keep it moving. When my hair is curly, I have to wake up and wash it every morning because I totally can't get a brush through it. My favorite hair straightener at the moment is Irresistible Me's Diamond flat iron. It's super easy, straighten my hair quickly, and it's safe to use. Please read my full review here. It's perfect for straightening my hair during these long hot summer months.

I love love love Drybar's Hot Toddy Heat & UV Protectant. I apply a small amount to my freshly washes hair before I use any type of heat. This product protects my hair from the heat of blow dryers, flat irons, and curling wands. It's important to protect your hair so it can prevent damage, breakage, dryness and split ends. It also protects your hair from UV exposure! We all know that the sun can be brutal on your hair. This will protects your hair for up to 450 degrees! That's heat! Lastly, it smells amazing. I would use this cream for the fragrance alone.

I am totally digging Aveda's Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair! I found out about it through another blogger and I am so happy I did. Sometimes I don't use any other product except for this leave in conditioner. You can use it everyday and it repairs your hair by 26%. Not only is it a conditioner but you can also use it to protect your hair from heat. It also repairs damage and strengthens your hair. I apply it to freshly washed and damp hair. I apply a small amount first and then start combing my hair. It doesn't smell as nice as Drybar products but it is super good for your hair so I'll take it. If you haven't tried this gem, it's definitely worth doing so! It's also great for me because all of my hair products have to be paraben and sulfate free since I got the keratin treatment done back in March. (It's almost time for a new treatment!)

Another relatively new fave of mine is Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Leave-In Conditioner Spray. I first tried this product when it arrived as a sample in one of my Birchbox sets and it soon became a favorite. It smells soooo good and as soon as I apply it to my hair, it instantly makes my hair look and feel healthier and shinier without feeling greasy or weighed down. Most importantly, it moisturizes your hair! I am starting to use my leave-in conditioners oppose to other styling aids such as gels and mousses because I beat my hair up sooo much that I am trying to be nicer to it overall.

Between these four hair care products, you hair will not get frizzy at all! Your hair will look healthy, shiny, and radiant even during the worst heatwave.

What products do you use to beat the Summer frizz?

  1. I try to use as little as possible on my hair but the detangling spray from O&M is amazing, it really smoothes down my stubborn lengths!
