I"m going to be honest....I'm getting really exhausted. Since I starting getting severe acne back in April, I now know soooo much about makeup and skincare. I swear the best makeup artists must have had bad acne! When you're trying to cover breakouts, you try sooo many different products and learn what's best to use to conceal the bumps and scarring! You are also super conscious of every single product you let touch your face. Even if it's free, I still won't put certain things on my face.
I bought Estée Lauder Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion about a month and a half ago because my doctor prescribed razorback which is a form of retinol to control my breakouts and it was causing severe dryness and I need to switch up my skincare routine to more gentle products. I'm no longer using any products with alcohol and try to buy only oil free. So during one of my Nordstrom visits, the sweet girl at the counter suggested that I use Estée Lauder Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion instead of my alcohol based toner to keep my skin clean, balanced, and hydrated. I use a lot of Estée Lauder products so I know the brand and know it works pretty well with me. There's a $56 price tag attached to this toner which I wasn't too happy about but I only have one face. So I bought it.
Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion isn't the traditional toner in my mind. It's more of a light serum and this a little thicker in consistency than a normal toner. It's also not a serum in my mind because it's too thick to apply by hand and you need to use a cotton pad for application. After using it for over a month, it really is gentle and moisturizing. It helps balance and remove any excess dirt and oil my cleanser didn't remove.
So my routine goes something like this...
1. BareMinerals Total Cleansing Oil with Avon makeup removing wipes to remove first layer of makeup.
3. Apply Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion with a cotton pad
4. Apply thin layer of Tazorac
5. Allow one hour to dry
7. Allow 30 mins to dry and then bed!
Trust me, I know this routine is a lot and it's exhausting. I'm also taking doxycycline pills and using Aczone in the morning before makeup routine. I'm on a 3 month dosage and I'm really hoping that my skin is clear by the New Year.
Now back to the Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion...there's no fragrance, no oils, no greasy residue, nothing left feeling heavy on your skin. Once I apply, my skin does feel calmer and balanced. It also absorbs quickly into my skin.
My final thoughts? I love everything Estée Lauder but the $56 price tag will not make me this product again. My rose water toner did the same thing for me and it was $10 on Amazon. Yes, it's a "water" and not a "lotion" but my skin equally loved it and I felt like I got the same results. Again, this is a fab product but my wallet needs to look into a different direction.
Have you tried Estée Lauder's Nutritious Vitality 8 Radiant Energy Lotion?
