How to Remove Acne Dark Spots

11:43:00 PM

Thank goodness that my acne has been behaving itself. So far so good with no new breakouts....BUT my breakouts did leave damage behind. My face is covered with dark spots! My face is just covered with the bad memories left behind. I have been doing everything possible to remove the dark spots from my face. In the past few weeks, I've seen huge improvement. So here's what I'm doing...

How to Remove Acne Dark Spots

1. Aloe Vera: After watching the video below, my sister-in-law texted me and ask you need an aloe vera plant asap! I'm like wtf do I need that for? After watching the YouTube video, I legit immediately ran to Home Depot and bought a plant for $4.99. Hahaha. I totally did not wait! I just tear a piece of the plant off, cut the skin open, and rub the flesh all over my face. The juices are like a natural miracle cure all. After I apply, I wait until the juice is fully dry on my face before I apply anything else. My skin feels tight! I have really seen an improvement so far! I wish I could bottle all the juice up and store it someone so it'll be easier for application but I'm afraid the benefited won't be a far, I highly recommend everyone get an aloe vera plant!

2. Mederma PM Intensive Overnight Scar Cream: My Mom highly recommends anything from Mederma. She started using it about 15 years ago on a surgery scar and tells everyone to get it. This is a new formula and it states to be extremely advanced and really works to break scars as you sleep. I apply this about 30 mins after I apply the aloe vera to my face. It's a thicker cream so a little goes a long way. I apply it on all of my scarred areas and wait for it to dry before I apply my moisturizer. It doesn't smell and it's easy to blend. So far, I have noticed a huge difference. It doesn't happen overnight and trust me, I'm very impatient. But my Mom said my skin without any makeup on after I had been using this for about a month and she said wow!! Your scars are almost gone. I still have a way to go but I'm finally starting to breathe again.

3. Mederma Scar Cream Plus SPF 30: So I use Mederma during the day as well. I use this SPF 30 formula in place of my moisturizer. It does a great job at hydrating my skin as well as protecting it from the sun. Also, I'm looking for some extra scar healing powers. I think I would be lost without Mederma.

4. BareMinerals True Oasis Oil-Free Replenishing Gel Cream: I am OBSESSED with this gel based moisturizer. I finally bought the full sized version when BareMinerals was having one of their 20% off sales. I have never used a gel moisturizer before and I had my doubts. In my mind, in order to hydrate your skin, you needed some huge thick white cream. Sooo not the case. I'm so in love with BareMinerals new skincare line. In my opinion, if you have acne, oily skin, or problematic skin, this moisturizer is a must. It's hydrating, smooth, doesn't leave a residue, and makes your skin feel amazing for makeup application. Apply both day and night and you'll notice a huge difference. The key doesn't clog my pores!! I haven't gotten one breakout.

5. Witch Hazel: Any brand will do. I bought mine at Walmart for super cheap. I can't say enough how much I love this. My bff Karen has been using this for so many years and told me to give it a try and swore it worked better than any expensive toner I've tried. I really think using the original witch hazel formula has been a game changer. It helps tone your skin, reduce swelling and inflammation, helps repair skin, fights off bacteria. Yessssssssssss!!

PS- to be a little extra, I highly recommend using this to help cleanse your skin at night. It's amazinggggggg. I will never stop using one!

So far this combo has been working really well for me over the last month. My spots are fading day by day.

Do you guys have any tricks up your sleeves when it comes to removing dark spots left by acne? Talk about a confidence sucker! I would love to hear what you've used or are using!

Have a great week!!

  1. Sadly for me I've found the best thing for healing my scars has been time (which sucks!) and also not using acid products on my face. Since I stopped regularly using a salicylic acid acne treatment my scars definitely seem to have faded.

  2. i feel like these will help me so much! thanks for this post, i'll definitely be trying some of these!

  3. AHAs always do the trick for me. Glycolic acid is amazing at fading dark spots! Good sunscreen, too as it keeps them from getting darker. That Maderma cream sounds awesome!
