Peace Out 2016!

Happy New Year's Eve darlings!!! Seriously, I totally can't believe it's 2017 already! (And my Momma's birthday!!)

I must say that 2016 was a pretty amazing year for me. I have absolutely no complaints and have experienced so many blessings. Honestly, 2013, 2014, and 2015 were pretty shitty years for me and I didn't think there was going to be any light at the end of the tunnel. When all you see is darkness, it's hard to ever think you'll see the light again. Well I can truthfully say that I have seen a shitload of darkness and finally finally finally I have seen some damn light.

I have to acknowledge the good times and give my thanks to God. Here are some things I have been truly grateful for in 2016...

  • My family: Without my family (especially my Mom), I wouldn't be here. I would not be around, or focused, or I don't even know what. I would probably be dancing on top of a table at a club drunk or out of control. My family keeps me sane and grounded. They support me no matter what and I know how lucky I am.
  • My friends: I am so grateful to have so many amazing people in my life. I have a problem and I am so lucky to be able to text 15 people asking for help and I'll get 15 replies back saying "What do you need?" Sometimes I really get emotional when I think about what a blessing it is to have so many good people in my life.
  • No bullshit: I must say, it's not always easy getting good people in your life. I am not sure if it's because I am now in my 30's but I have no tolerance for bullshit. I am getting a better sense of who I am and I am becoming more of myself. If you aren't a good person with morals, values, and good intentions, I am asking you to get away from me. It may be harsh to say but it's the truth. I don't need the drama or bullshit. I am only nurturing good positive relationships. I have had enough bad already to last me a lifetime...
  • My nieces: Technically they should be under the family category (lol) but my three nieces have to get their own shout out. The twins are 2 years old and the oldest is 4 years old and they are all something else. They all have such different personalities and are their own little characters. They keep me grounded and really put life into perspective. If I'm sick, the 3 of them are FaceTiming me asking if I'm ok. If I look like crap, the three of them will comment on it. They just make everything in my life so much better. Holidays are better. Birthdays are better. Apple picking is better. Just everything. Even small things of innocence like Sofia playing with a Jack in a Box and not realizing that something will pop out. She screamed so loud and I couldn't stop laughing. What joy seeing things through a child's eyes. Love those girls with everything I have.
  • My job: I am so blessed to say how much I love my full time job. Its been 5 years and I still love showing up to work everyday. I have an amazing boss and I am surrounded by people who appreciate me and my work. That's rare.
  • My blog: In 2017, I will be focusing a lot more on The Gossip Darling. I have learned so many things this past year though and have connected with some amazing people. I can't wait to continue to expand and hopefully turn this baby of mine into something bigger.
What are you grateful for this past year?

Happy New Year! Wishing you a safe and happy holiday and many blessing for 2017!

New Year's Resolutions for 2017

New Year's Resolutions for 2017
via
I can't believe that it's almost 2017! Am I the only one thinking next week is only July 4th?! Crazy town! I'm determined to make New Year's Resolutions for 2017 and I'm sticking to them. Wish me luck. Here they are...

1. No new beauty products unless replacing empty containers: As a makeup junkie, I have loads and loads of makeup and always make new purchases in the name of "backup". No more! If I don't have an empty container, it won't get purchased. And no more having a million backup to products. No reason to have over 10 different foundations in my drawers. Makeup expires and you end up throwing it away. It's time to be more realistic and save money.

2. Save $200 per week: Since I'm not purchasing makeup, extra money is going into savings!

3. No spend January: It's time for me to put the breaks on my spending. Of course we all go a little over during the holidays but it's time to get back to real life! No spending unless it's an absolute must.

4. Get back to fitness and diet program: I lost 15 pounds before the holidays. I know I've gained a few back. I'm not beating myself up too much because I don't as sick a lot in December and was unable to go to the gym. Time to get back into my healthy living routine!

5. Sell everything I don't need: Again, out with everything I don't need and start bringing in more money! Time to clean up the clutter and make some money from it.

6. Blog more!

7. Learn how to use my new camera: I need to start taking better blog photos. I'm determined to improve this baby of mine.

8. Focus on my life and being happy: I focus so much of others that I forget about myself. Time for me to get a boyfriend and focus on my own happiness.

What are your New Year's Resolutions? What's happening in 2017?

Have a Happy New Year everyone!! Be safe!

Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Nail Polish

11:31:00 PM

Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Nail Polish

If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I LOVE this nail polish. I've been wearing it almost every single day since I've purchased it. Bobbi's nail polish comes in two colors: wine and chocolate. I decided to go with chocolate because I already have so many different shades of red. The chocolate shade is so unique and suits every skin complexion. It's such a rich shade!!

Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Nail Polish

This is how I apply...

I use my OPI gel base first and then apply two coats of the Bobbi Brown nail polish. The formula is so rich that two coats is all you need!

Then I apply one coat of the OPI gel top coat! I let my nails dry for 5 minutes between each coat.

That's it! Your nails will look for the next 7 days!

Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Nail Polish

Seriously this nail polish is worth every penny of the $15 price tag. I'm so in love with it!!

Beauty Goodies Used Up in November

Beauty Goodies Used Up in November

Crap. I totally was supposed to post this earlier in the month! Oh well! I've been sick pretty much the entirety of December so please forgive me!

Here are beauty goodies I've used up in November! (Seems so long ago, eh?)

1. Avon Makeup Remover Wipes: I feature these month after month and I still love them! I use them daily to remove my makeup as well as wipe my makeup brushes after every use. I use about 3 to 4 wipes daily so I go through many packages. These wipes are still the best I've found.

2. BareMinerals Dirty Detox Mask: I purchased two containers of this mask because they were having a 20% off sale. I like it and use it twice a week but it's not my favorite. I'm on the hunt for a different mask so please pass along any recommendations! It leaves my skin feeling smooth but I see no real improvement...I need something better...

3. Burt's Bee Tinted Lip Balm: Omg I'm obsessed with this stuff! I received this in one of my beauty subscriptions and it's the best thing ever. I'll definitely be repurchasing after I finish up some lip products I already have! It gives my lips a hint of color and leaves them feeling so soft. The best thing about it? I can apply without using a mirror and still look like I'm wear a hint of lipstick! Love. I need to try more products from this brand.

4. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Hand Cream: My Mom swears by this stuff and I have to say I agree with her. It's super thick and kinda smells bad but it leaves your skin smooth for hours...being that I live in NYC and we are in full blown Winter, my hands definitely pay the price. This cream has definitely been helping.

5. Avon Skin So Soft Hair Removing Cream: I loooove this stuff! I don't think Avon gets enough credit for some amazing products they have. It's not an old lady brand. They offer some amazing products at a reasonable price. You need this hair removing cream. Doesn't burn and leaves your skin feeling soft and moisturized.

6. BareMinerals Clay Chameleon Cleanser: This is a nice cleanser but yet again...not my favorite. My acne is improving finally after 6 months but it's left me feeling very picky when it comes to makeup and skincare. I want nothing but products I love in my medicine cabinet. Things are expensive you know?! I still love BareMinerals but I'll pass on this and stick with my Chanel cleanser

Thanks for reading everyone! Hope you had a great Christmas!

Too Faced Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette

11:33:00 PM

Omg!!!! Omg!!! Omg!!! You NEED this eyeshadow palette! I just got it and I'm super obsessed with it already! Yesssss!

I have been stalking this eyeshadow palette for awhile. I love my eyeshadow. I wear it every single day and I prefer more of a natural look that I can build into something more glam. Who wants to buy so many palettes? Just buy one that you can use many different ways! I love my natural looking colors and golds/bronze shades. These shades are super pigmented and a little bit goes a longggg way. I swear you just need to tap a bit with your brush and the color will transfer easily!

Too Faced Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette Seriously, if you only have enough money for one eyeshadow palette and you want something very versatile... this $36 Too Faced Natural Eyes Eyeshadow Palette is the one for you. You can use it day/night/fancy occasions.

Now on to an important question...should I purchase Too Faced's Sweet Peach palette......

How to Remove Acne Dark Spots

11:43:00 PM

Thank goodness that my acne has been behaving itself. So far so good with no new breakouts....BUT my breakouts did leave damage behind. My face is covered with dark spots! My face is just covered with the bad memories left behind. I have been doing everything possible to remove the dark spots from my face. In the past few weeks, I've seen huge improvement. So here's what I'm doing...

How to Remove Acne Dark Spots

1. Aloe Vera: After watching the video below, my sister-in-law texted me and ask you need an aloe vera plant asap! I'm like wtf do I need that for? After watching the YouTube video, I legit immediately ran to Home Depot and bought a plant for $4.99. Hahaha. I totally did not wait! I just tear a piece of the plant off, cut the skin open, and rub the flesh all over my face. The juices are like a natural miracle cure all. After I apply, I wait until the juice is fully dry on my face before I apply anything else. My skin feels tight! I have really seen an improvement so far! I wish I could bottle all the juice up and store it someone so it'll be easier for application but I'm afraid the benefited won't be a potent....so far, I highly recommend everyone get an aloe vera plant!

2. Mederma PM Intensive Overnight Scar Cream: My Mom highly recommends anything from Mederma. She started using it about 15 years ago on a surgery scar and tells everyone to get it. This is a new formula and it states to be extremely advanced and really works to break scars as you sleep. I apply this about 30 mins after I apply the aloe vera to my face. It's a thicker cream so a little goes a long way. I apply it on all of my scarred areas and wait for it to dry before I apply my moisturizer. It doesn't smell and it's easy to blend. So far, I have noticed a huge difference. It doesn't happen overnight and trust me, I'm very impatient. But my Mom said my skin without any makeup on after I had been using this for about a month and she said wow!! Your scars are almost gone. I still have a way to go but I'm finally starting to breathe again.

3. Mederma Scar Cream Plus SPF 30: So I use Mederma during the day as well. I use this SPF 30 formula in place of my moisturizer. It does a great job at hydrating my skin as well as protecting it from the sun. Also, I'm looking for some extra scar healing powers. I think I would be lost without Mederma.

How to Remove Acne Dark Spots

4. BareMinerals True Oasis Oil-Free Replenishing Gel Cream: I am OBSESSED with this gel based moisturizer. I finally bought the full sized version when BareMinerals was having one of their 20% off sales. I have never used a gel moisturizer before and I had my doubts. In my mind, in order to hydrate your skin, you needed some huge thick white cream. Sooo not the case. I'm so in love with BareMinerals new skincare line. In my opinion, if you have acne, oily skin, or problematic skin, this moisturizer is a must. It's hydrating, smooth, doesn't leave a residue, and makes your skin feel amazing for makeup application. Apply both day and night and you'll notice a huge difference. The key factor...it doesn't clog my pores!! I haven't gotten one breakout.

5. Witch Hazel: Any brand will do. I bought mine at Walmart for super cheap. I can't say enough how much I love this. My bff Karen has been using this for so many years and told me to give it a try and swore it worked better than any expensive toner I've tried. I really think using the original witch hazel formula has been a game changer. It helps tone your skin, reduce swelling and inflammation, helps repair skin, and...it fights off bacteria. Yessssssssssss!!

PS- to be a little extra, I highly recommend using this to help cleanse your skin at night. It's amazinggggggg. I will never stop using one!

So far this combo has been working really well for me over the last month. My spots are fading day by day.

Do you guys have any tricks up your sleeves when it comes to removing dark spots left by acne? Talk about a confidence sucker! I would love to hear what you've used or are using!

Have a great week!!

Chanel Mousse Confort Rinse-Off Rich Foaming Cream Cleanser Review

12:56:00 PM

Chanel Mousse Confort Rinse-Off Rich Foaming Cream Cleanser Review

Omg omg omg! Of course you all know by now how much I love Chanel makeup and skincare but I recently discovered Chanel Mousse Confort Rinse-Off Rich Foaming Cream Cleanser and I am 100% in love with it. Like legit, I applied it to my face and I saw hearts floating around me.

Due to my acne prone skin, I am very particular about what products I put on my skin. Before I purchase anything, I do LOADS of research and read as many review as I can find before I make any decisions. Thank goodness due to doctor prescribed medicines, my skin has been looking amazing lately. The only outstanding issue I'm having it my dark spots. The acne scarring is very much there but I am doing so much research and will speak to my doctor about the best way to handle that angle.

I use this sulfur cleanser that my dermatologist prescribed but it's too harsh on my skin for daily use and it leaves my skin leaving super dry and flaky. It's best I use that cleanser just once a day or once every other day. (Flakes aren't a cute look) So I needed to find a cleanser to use when I am not using the sulfur one. I tried Cetaphil since everyone said that's what doctors recommend. It's just ok to me. It doesn't make me skin feel clean, hydrated, or soft. I am going to finish using the bottle I have and will probably use most of it to clean my makeup brushes but it definitely won't be a permanent part of my skincare routine.

I did also order a cleanser by Tula but I am scared to try it! I have seen all the fashion and beauty bloggers using it and they highly recommend it but I also want to hear from "real" users. Do you now what I mean? If you tried this line, please let me know!!

Anyway, I decided to go back to my trusted Chanel since I love every other thing I have purchased from them! And goodness I am NOT disappointed. Their cleanser is super foamy, a tiny bit goes a long way (so the $45 bottle will last you awhile!!) and it doesn't have a strong smell. I used it with a washcloth as well as my Clarisonic and both ways left my skin feel squeaky clean! This formula is for sensitive skin so it didn't feel heavy or harsh at all. I really appreciate the gentleness!! This milky white foamy cleanser is going to be part of my daily routine for a very long time.

As soon as my wallet refills a little bit, I am also going to add the toner to routine as well as moisturizers to see how my skin feels afterwards. But please don't hesitate, the cleanser alone with worth everything! You won't regret this purchase!

Have a great week!!
